Input cost to cheescake:
$1.50 crust
$1.30/2 milk
$2.40/2 sourcream
$6.00/6 vanilla extract
$1.79 cream cheese
$1.50/3 eggs
Total = $6.65
Not including time 1/2 hour for making the product and 1/4 hour of washing dishes. (What is the cost per hour of a cheap grad student?)
utility from a successful product: infinite.
An Eli cheese cake is sold for $12.00
I should still make my own cheesecake.

You should make your crust.
Comment by Louis November 8, 2008 @ 8:58 pmYou should make your eggs.
Comment by pinus November 8, 2008 @ 11:14 pmInteresting. I have never even thought of whether eggs could be made by human beings. That is an idea.
Comment by Wendy November 9, 2008 @ 12:06 amStart by try to make your own crust. That one is actually feasible. You could even make oreo cookies crust…
Comment by Louis November 9, 2008 @ 1:09 pmMaking the crust takes labor and takes more inputs that > $1.5 of the ready to go crust.
I did a cost-benefit analysis before I decided that I am not going to make the crust. I simply took too much time and energy and the joy out of making it simply does not exceed the work.
Comment by Wendy November 9, 2008 @ 1:28 pmyou should just buy a slice of cheesecake when you want to have one. if you make the whole cheesecake, i bet most of it will become rotten in your fridge… and you will have to end up throwing it away. Cost > Benefit
